LYNCH LOOKS TO WRAP UP SECOND AT CROFT

Westhoughton-based racer Tony Lynch will hope to wrap up second place in the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship standings this weekend when the curtain comes down on the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship season at Croft.

Tony goes into the season finale with a five point lead over Adam Clark in the fight to take second in the standings, with rival Dave Bellerby having already secured the championship crown for the second straight year.

With a raft of bad luck over the course of the year having ended Tony´s hopes of taking the title himself, the Lucas Oils Team Geriatric driver now heads to the North East eager to end the year on a high with a second win of the year.

"We won the first round of the season at Lydden Hill so it would be good if we could end the year with another win," he said. "Over the course of the season, I´ve matched Dave for pace but through a combination of bad luck and incidents that weren´t my fault, I´ve not been able to beat him to the title.

"However, victory this weekend would secure second in the championship and match our result from last year, so that is the aim as we head to Croft. The boys have worked hard on the car to make sure it´s in perfect shape for the weekend and it´s now down to me to make sure we go into the off-season celebrating a strong finish."

As well as hosting the final round of the British Rallycross Championship season on Saturday, Croft will also host the British Rallycross Grand Prix the following day, with Tony amongst the Suzuki drivers to have confirmed they will take part.

"The chance to take part in the Grand Prix was something we couldn´t turn down as it will give us extra chance to promote the sponsors who have supported us all year," Tony added. "The fact it doesn´t count for the championship also means we can go out and race without having to worry about points and championship positions, and I think that myself, Dave and the rest of the Suzuki drivers will put on a great show for the fans."
