Team Geriatric race report:: Round 4, Maasmechelen, Belgium
(Thursday 29th July 2010) Tony Lynch and the team made their way to Maasmechelen, Belgium for round 4 of the British Rallycross Championship. On the whole it was a great experience for the team with a good crowd attendance and a warm welcome from the local teams. After finishing 2nd place in both heats Tony attempted to gain the lead off the start of the 3rd heat by hanging on the outside of the first corner giving him the inside line for the following bend, unfortunately after the previous races there was loose dirt on outside of the bend and Tony didn't have the grip which left him running too wide and losing places. He had time to regain some places during the 3rd heat but it wasn't the result tony was looking for. Tony started the final on the front row of the grid and opted to keep on the inside of the first bend after his last heat, he kept neat & tidy behind Dave Bellerby who started pole, this was going to plan but it all went wrong as another car tried to force their way on the inside where the space was not there pushing Tony wide on the bend and causing another competitor to crash into Tony and bending the suspension and he steered his wounded Suzuki to 5th. Despite the final ending in disaster there were plenty of positives as Team Geriatric picked up enough points to remain second place in the championship.
Outright Wins For Robbie
(Thursday 29th July 2010)
Somerset Karting ace Robbie Gallier was back in action at the Dunkeswell Kart track Mansell Raceway in Devon for the first time since his major accident there a year ago which left young Gallier with a broken collar bone and wrist.
The 13 year old was on scintillating form, having not raced there since the accident and not been available for the open practice sessions on Saturday, he had just the three compulsory practice laps on Sunday morning to familiarize him self with the track.
It was Dunkeswell where Robbie had his first ever Honda Cadet win, he soon proved he had remembered the best lines around the superb track. In the first of three heats his confidence was boosted with a terrific win in the Honda Cadet class, this was to be repeated in the two subsequent heats also taking fastest lap in all three heats it was dream return for Robbie. This put him on pole in the Honda Cadet class of 18 for the final. With the temperature increasing, tyre pressures were going to be crucial; with the Prokart team that normally runs Robbie on holiday it was up to Dad Julien to get the set up spot on. Robbie made an excellent start then there was a tangle in the fourth corner, this put Robbie back to 7th he had his work cut out and got back to the front and take the lead, only for the race to end prematurely when the red flag went out due to an accident, thankfully no one was hurt and Robbie could celebrate his superb days racing, winning all three heats and the final in the Honda Cadet class also taking fastest lap in all four races.

The championship was held on the MX circuit adjacent to Stowe corner while the MotoGP British Grand Prix was taking place on the main circuit.

Fresh start for Buff Husqvarna
(Wednesday 23rd June 2010)
Buff Husqvarna returned to racing at Silverstone for the Red Bull Pro National round running along the MotoGP. The meeting was the perfect time for the team to return to racing with a fit again Luke Burton and new rider youngster Luke Dean. The Friday practice wasn't the perfect start to the weekend with a couple of teething issues which prevented Luke Burton from completing a fast last and Luke Dean was just trying to find the best set up on the new bike. Luke Dean finished the session in 18th in the MX2 class.
The Saturday saw the first race of the weekend and both riders rode solid races to gain some good results at a time when race fitness isn't at its highest. Luke Dean had a good race to finish in 14th place in the MX2 class with team mate Luke Burton just behind in 15th place.
The Saturday Night Supercross saw hard luck for the team, with Luke Burton deciding not to contest the evening racing. Youngster Luke Dean rode well in the heat but was unlucky to finish just outside the qualifying spots. Then in the LCQ a bad start and traffic on the first lap cost him a place in the final.
Sunday morning saw the first of the two Pro class races and with both riders on the starting line the team were looking for some good results. Both Luke's didn't get the best of starts but the pair rode hard to try and make up ground. Luke Dean was able to push forward into 12th place in the MX2 class, while unfortunately Luke Burton suffered a crashed a pulled out of the race.
The last race of the day saw only Luke Dean on the start line after Luke Burton decided to pull out and rest up for next weekend. The race was very dusty and made it hard for Luke to make progress, but he was able to finish in 13th place in MX2 to round of a good weekend for the team.
Lynch takes first Suzuki win at Blyton
(Friday 18th June 2010)
Multiple British Stockhatch Champion, Tony Lynch, took his first British Rallycross Championship win at Blyton on Saturday night.
Lynch's win in the new Suzuki Swift Challenge came despite the Westhoughton racer having only taken delivery of his new car on the eve of the 2010 season.
The first two rounds of the year had seen Lynch and his Team Geriatric squad getting to grips with their new machine after success in recent years with a venerable Peugeot 205, which carried Tony to both the British Stockhatch and British Rallycross Drivers Association overall titles last year.
Arriving at Blyton for the night race, Lynch was second quickest in the first two qualifying heats of the afternoon before going quickest in heat three, which had to be restarted following an accident involving World Superbike Championship rider Leon Haslam, who was driving the guest car for the event.
Those results saw him qualify second on the grid for the night time final behind Dave Bellerby, but he dropped to third place at the start behind former British Rally Champion Jonny Milner. Milner then ran wide to allow Tony back into second place but he was unable to close on leader Bellerby as the race was red-flagged following an accident involving Richard Elliott.
Given an unexpected second chance in the final, Tony made the best start to jump ahead of Bellerby into turn one and was never headed as he led the race from start-to-finish to secure his first victory of 2010.
Big Bang at the Big Bang
(Monday 10th May 2010)
Having won the Big Bang event last year at the Santa Pod raceway, Think Pink went into the event with high hopes and to get some important runs ahead of the next championship round. The weekend started well and despite a slight problem on the Saturday the team's times improved coming into the Sunday qualifier with a run of 8.8 seconds. Sandra was up against the number 2 qualifier in the quarter finals of the eliminator rounds and was all going to plan until an electrical fault on the line causing the engine to cut out and ended their weekend's racing. After their problems the team have decided to re wire the bike to avoid any future problems at the championship rounds.
Solid Results in Tough Conditions for Buff Husqvarna
(Monday 10th May 2010)
The Second Round of the Red Bull Pro National at Landrake saw the Buff Husqvarna team looking for good results from its sole rider Lewis Rose in the MX2 class. The recent good weather had disappeared for the Sunday and was replaced by rain overnight leaving the track in a very muddy condition.
After a difficult qualifying session Lewis battled his way into the top 10 of the MX2 class and finishing 8th overall from starting 14th. With the rain coming down for the second race of the meeting the teams had to fight just as hard with the muddy conditions and Lewis drove a smart race in very slippery conditions and finished 11th.
Overal Lewis finished 9th in the standings which leaves the team 11th in the championship after 2 meetings of the Red Bull Pro Nationals with their next meeting being the 3rd Round of the Maxxis British Championship at Duns in Scotland.
Robbie sets the pace at Rowrah circuit.
(Tuesday 27th April 2010)
Having never raced at the Rowrah circuit Robbie had the chance to compete there before the 2nd round of the British Championship held at Rowrah. Having to make the long trip up to Cumbria the youngster took to the circuit and was consistantly finishing second place in the heat races coming from 8th on the grid, the second heat starting all the way back in 18th and still making it onto the podium. As Robbie's main competitors had already spent 3 days testing at the circuit the final 10 lap race was the big test to which Robbie gained another 2nd place and left the weekend full of confidence and also breaking the lap record, with this track experience Robbie can now look forwards to returning to Rowrah in May for the British Championship.

Team Geriatric put the new car to the test
(Monday 19th April 2010)
Tony Lynch and the team put an incredible effort in to even get their new Susuki swift to the 1st meeting at Lydden Hill, With the team due to race on the Sunday and Monday they had the task of putting the car together on Saturday before making it to the circuit 3 AM on raceday! despite this the guys adrenaline kept them going especially when they discovered just how much competive speed they had. As each heat past Tony was getting quicker and not for a few race incidents would have been competing for the lead. The final race was full of promise as tony was holding onto a solid second place until desaster struck as he tangled with a competitor looking to overtake him and left his new car damaged and stranded in the gravel trap. Now the team can look forwards to Knockhill knowing they've put together a car worthy of winning races as Tony will get quicker and will surely be a challenger for the series.

Rough Ride for Buff Husqvarna
(Friday 26th March 2010)
The Buff Husqvarna team started their 2010 season at the Hawkstone International Park with their 3 riders looking to kick start their campaign. Despite showing a lot of potential during the weekend it proved to a painfully unlucky event, Painful it was so be in qualifying for Luke as he lost grip coming into a hard landing which resulted in the rider taking a nasty knock to the head and ankle which ruled him out for the weekend's racing.
Race 1 got underway with their 2 remaining drivers competing in the middle of the pack but despite making ground Josh's race came to an end as 3 other riders colliding with the back of his bike and putting him out of the race and left him with a bruised back. Things were looking up for Lewis as he made his way into 6 but all his hard work was undone as a mechanic fault cut his race short on lap 7.
Race 2 was all down to Lewis who had to compete in the spare bike having his mechanic problems in Race 1. With a start in the middle of the pack Lewis was making good progress passing each lap and was then on the tail of the leaders, but luck wasn't on their side all weekend and wasn't to be in this race as Lewis got caught up with a slower rider and the front spokes had ripped off the front wheel causing him to pull out of the race. The next event will be at the Red Bull Nationals at the Foxhills track.

Robbie Celebrates Sixth Championship
(Monday 11th January 2010)
The 12 year old Somerset Karting star Robbie Gallier enjoyed his final celebration of his 2009 season. Robbie was at the Llandow Kart Club awards evening where he received his trophy for winning the Honda Cadet Championship.
The championship consisted of nine race weekends, each consisting of 3 heats of 8 laps and final of 10 laps, competing in only seven of the races as one clashed with another championship and one he had to miss due to a broken collar bone and wrist he sustained at the Dunkeswell crash.
Robbie won the championship in style winning all 7 race weekends he entered and also broke the lap record which he now holds for his class. He was very proud to receive his trophies presented by Jordan Chamberlin the 2009 European and British KF2 Champion.
2009 was an amazing first full year in Karting for Robbie winning 28 race weekends, 11 of those consecutively, 6 championships and setting 3 lap records. This betters many of the current F1 stars achievements in there first season in Karts.
Robbie commented, "It's been a fantastic year, as soon as I started racing I just knew that this was what I really want to do. Thanks to everyone who has helped me in 2009 and I can't wait until the snow goes so I can get racing again."
All thoughts are now of the 2010 season in which Robbie will compete in the British Championship and defend the NKRA, full plans will be released in the next few weeks, when there will be exciting news of his sponsors for the 2010 season.

Tony leads the field
(Thursday 14th May 2009)
Rally cross driver, Tony Lynch has started his challenge to regain his British Rallycross champion status in the Stockhatch class with his trusty Peugeot 205 GTi, in the best possible way. Tony who was National Champion across all classes in 2005 and 2006 and British Stockhatch Champion in 2007 missed out in 2008 after leading the championship all year following an accident in the final round.
The 2009 season has started with near perfection as in the three rounds he has scored three wins plus bonus points in the first two rounds for achieving the fastest time of the day, giving him a total of 100 points from a possible 105.
The first round of the year was held in Ireland in March and Tony was worried as the British contenders were to race alongside the Irish championship drivers and whilst the cars look very similar the rules for the two championships are very different, the British cars being considerably heavier and the two championships using different tyres. These advantages would be very much in the favour of the Irish as the weather was extremely wet. Even so Tony managed to win and set fastest time of the day for the British contingent.
Rounds two and three were held over the Easter bank holiday weekend at Pembrey on the South Wales coast. In preparation for the busy weekend the team carried out a complete strip down of the engine and gearbox, team mechanics, Tony and Chris Rice commented that since they have switched to using lubricants supplied by Lucas Oils the wear and tear on what is essentially a standard engine that is forced to work under race conditions has been dramatically reduced and the reliability has been impressive. The team feels that since the switch to Lucas Oils rebuild and maintenance costs have been reduced substantially, important to a privateer in the current economic climate.
Proud Wiganer, Tony has been rewarded for his, and the teams efforts, with the award for the "Best Presented Team" of 2008 as voted by the fellow competitors.
Round two was held on Sunday and the weather was glorious, just what the team wanted as the car always goes better in the dry at this venue. The team and supporting business's where rewarded by Tony with three wins in the heats and fastest time plus a win in the final.
Round three took place on the Monday but now the weather conditions had turned against the team with strong cold winds and regular heavy rain. In the first heat Tony secured a win, but in heat two Tony was up against the weather, the track was soaking and for some reason the very greasy conditions affect Tony's car more than others, however, Tony still managed to come in second. But, Ryan Lawford who raced in the other heat was quicker and set fastest time. For the third heat the team tried some different suspension settings in an attempt to get the fastest time back, whilst Tony was sat in the holding area waiting for the race the rain stopped and the track dried very quickly because of the strong winds, so now the car was setup for the wet and the track was dry. Tony drove valiantly, with a car that constantly wanted to spin because of the lack of rear end grip, and managed to come in second behind Ryan who had chanced his arm by remaining on a dry setup. For the Final the team mechanics returned the car to a dry setup and although Tony came under some pressure he managed to get to the front with a good start and stayed there. So all in all not a bad weekend for the team. For a more in-depth report and to learn more about Tony Lynch and his exploits go to http://www.teamgeriatric.co.uk/, the title of the team is explained.
High Performance Fork Oil From Lucas Oil
(Wednesday 29th April 2009)
Motorcycle mechanics and riders have a greater choice of fork oil supplier following Lucas Oil's decision to add the product to its extensive ranges of oil and additives ranges now available in the UK.
Lucas has gone straight for a top quality High Performance Synthetic Fork Oil, available in three different weights (5wt, 10wt and 15wt) designed to provide PTW coverage across the complete manufacturer range as well as delivering a choice of damper responses for the more discerning motorcycle rider.
Inevitably, Lucas has formulated the new range using the highest quality synthetic base oils and an additive system designed both to improve performance and extend the life of the internal parts. Lucas Fork Oil prevents seal hardening, oxidation, thickening and foaming.
The result is a selection of three fork oils that produce highly responsive handling and better shock performance whether intended for use with damping rod, cartridge, bladder, conventional or inverted fork arrangements.
Robbie Shines in the Showers
(Monday 27th April 2009)
The weekend on the Drunkeswell Kart circuit proved to be a testing event due to the unpredictable weather, despite the rain Robbie was consistantly quick, winning the 1st of the 8 lap heats and coming second in the other 2. This meant Robbie was to start on pole for the 13 lap final, again the ever changing weather made the final race challenging however Robbie battled on to win the final race and clinched top honors in the Honda class.
Robbie’s Fourth Consecutive Win
(Friday 24th April 2009)
Robbie Gallier of Lympsham took his fourth consecutive win at Llandow, the South Wales kart track. The weekend did not start so well for Robbie as he had set up problems Saturday's free practice as Robbie had not used the new Project One kart in such extreme temperatures, as the track was bathed in sunshine all day. Only to have fuel pump issues on Sunday throughout the three qualifiers before the final.
To make matters worse in the first heat Robbie climbed up the order from is grid start position of 8th to 3rd only to be rammed by a fellow competitor on the last corner which then dropped him back to 8th. With the other two qualifiers being just as difficult due to the fuel pump problem he did well to qualify 2nd for the final. With the fuel pump problem sorted Robbie was determined to maintain his un beaten record at Llandow this year and his championship lead, he challenged for the lead on the first lap and took it only to loose it briefly, to come back and to take a convincing win by two kart lengths from fellow championship contender Ross Chell. Next weekend will see Robbie back at Dunkeswell, the Devon track owned by former World F1 Champion Nigel Mansell. Robbie is grateful for the continued support of; Demon Tweeks, South West Karting, Prokart Eng, PIAA, Talon and Lucas Oils
Robbie Stuns the Opposition
(Friday 24th April 2009) Robbie Gallier of Lympsham at only 11 is proving he has real potential in motor racing, if his stunning form is anything to go by. Robbie was visiting the Forest Edge circuit, near Andover for only the third time since starting Karting in May last year. This time it was for the second round of the NKRA Championship (National Kart Racing Association) which Robbie is leading after the first round. With a lot of the top Cadet drivers (8 to 13 year olds) from all over the country this was a real test for Robbie with 38 Cadets at the meeting. Competing in the hotly contested Honda Class Robbie reveling in the high level of competition was to win all three heats in the Honda class and taking fastest lap in two of the heats which meant that Robbie not only qualified first Honda, he also qualified fourth out of the 38 other competitors from all the other classes. Going in to the final Robbie was determined to try and take the win, this was not to be easy as the other three all from the other classes, Robbie went for it in the first lap and briefly held the lead for a lap and a half of the 8 lap final, on the straights with the outright speed of the Comer cadets being superior Robbie had to concede and finished a tremendous 4th overall and in doing so taking the Honda class by over half a second, an amazing result considering his short career. Robbie now leads the NKRA championship by a healthy margin. Robbie is next off to Clay Pigeon over the Easter weekend where he is competing in the championship, which he is currently leading
Bad luck costs Keytracker racing at Castle Comb
(Friday 24th April 2009)
Castle Comb hosted the 2nd round of the Tiger Racing series over the easter bank holiday which proved to be a testing weekend for Ryan. Mechanical problems during qualifying meant Ryan would start from the back of the grid for the 1st race, however the car ran perfectly during the race and Ryan stormed his way through the field and was challenging for the lead where unfortunately his competitor braked early on a bend which caused Ryan to spin into the barrier causing a lot of damage.
After 3 hours somehow the car was repaired in time for the 2nd race leaving Ryan to battle from the back with a poor handling car still managed to finish in 3rd place.
After Castle Comb this has left Keytracker Racing 4th in the overall championship and 2nd in their class. Next Event will be held at Mallory Park 24th May

2008 MSA British Racing Champion enjoys Lucas Oil support
(Monday 8th December 2008)
Philip Englefield was crowned MSA British Drag Racing Champion at the conclusion of santa Pod Raceway's UK National Finals over the 27-28 September Weekend.
Englefield is a veteran drag racer who graduated to Pro Modified in the class's infancy in 1988. In June, he won his first race for several years and, with it, took the lead in the MSA points.
His final steps to the title at the National Finals were less auspicious, though still dramatic. Surprisingly unqualified after 3 attempts on Saturday, Englefield's successful, last-ditch blast in Sunday morning's final session produced engine damage which could not be repaired in the short time before the opening round of eliminations. Fortunately Englefield had accumulated enough points during the 5 race season to hold off the eventual race winner, Graham Ellis.
Englefield and the BA Racing team have enjoyed support from Lucas Oil for four years and can now enjoy a well-earned rest before resuming development work on the car. Englefield's defence of his MSA British Championship hits the track at Easter 2009.

Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster Powers to Victory
(Tuesday 9th September 2008)
The Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster, driven by Andy Carter, powered to the FIA European Championship last weekend at Santa Pod.
Andy Carter claimed an unprecedented Hat-Trick of European FIA Top Fuel Championship Trophy wins after a sequence of drives that swept him into top qualifying position, despite starting the final weekend five points adrift in second place.
Three times winner Andy Carter paid tribute to the supporting role of his Carter Motorsport team and its key sponsor:
"The team has been the most consistent throughout the season and the results this weekend would not have been achieved without the support of Lucas Oil Products. The Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster runs on Lucas Oil and uses products from across the Lucas Oil lubricants, additives and car care ranges. Despite the poor weather, the car not only performed superbly, but it looked and felt great throughout. I think sponsor, team and driver all got what we deserved, this weekend," said the new FIA European Top Fuel Champion.
Motor Trader Lubricants
(Wednesday 13th August 2008)
Lucas Oil seems hell bent on literally becoming one of the UK's fastest moving brands in every sense of the word. It has developed a high profile on and off the track, as well as on the trade show circuit:
Race enthusiasts are seeing new vehicles bear the Lucas brand in new events across the racing spectrum (from carts to saloons, off-road trucks, monster trucks, specialist drag racers and several F1 derivative classes). Meanwhile, trade suppliers and buyers are becoming more familiar with the Lucas lubricants brand and additive product range through local and international exhibitions.
Following appearances at The Historic Motor Show in Stonleigh last February, then Maxpower in July at the NEC, Lucas moved on to Europe's largest Land Rover and 4x4 event at Billing Aquadrome in August. It returns to the NEC for The Classic Motor Show at the NEC from 29-31 October and will be back there again in January 2007 for The Aftermarket Show."It's one thing to have a good product, but it's quite another to get it out into the market and on to the shelves", says Les Downey, managing director at Lucas Oil Products. "From a motor factor perspective, he says there is an almost in-built reluctance to let new products on to valuable shelf space. The exception to that is a product that's likely to sell itself either because of a strong brand name, or because it is being heavily promoted", adds Les Downey.
The combined strategy has paid off. Sales of Lucas Oil lubricants - compared to 2005 - have almost doubled. Consequently, Lucas Oil Products UK sales in 2006 have increased significantly, so that new warehouse facilities have been added.
However, political events at home and abroad have also played a significant part in the US-brand's sales success during2006.Price rises in the UK lubricants market during 2006 were not passed on by Lucas as it held its prices at 2005 levels. Some lubricant suppliers followed their price increases by raising minimum stock order levels.
"That was crazy. Factors were in effect being told to sell more stock at a time when prices were being forced up," says Les Downey. "Many factors were unable to pass on the price rises in the first place! Our order levels have remained unchanged, which has been a significant sales factor over the last six months or so."
Lucas is also placing a lot of faith for next year in some new lubricant formulations, as well as a new motorcycle range which will form the basis of a strong retail focus next year.
Carter dominates in Sweden!
(Friday 8th August 2008)
'Andy Carter and the Lucas Oil team were on awesome form all weekend'
Veidec festival 2008
The signs have been there all year but various circumstances have prevented qualifying form to be carried over into round wins for the Lucas Oil/Landmeco Top Fuel dragster, driven by Andy Carter. Andy himself had said, 'its one thing be Q1 but it counts for nothing unless you win rounds!'
The brief for the team at Mantorp Park was simple; Qualify number 1, get low et, take the round wins and come home as event winners with maximum points. This would then really heap the pressure on our fellow title challengers.
The task was always going to be really tough in Sweden. The first hurdle to overcome was the safety measures introduced for the Top Fuel cars, with the decision to run over 1,000 feet. We were all heading into to unknown territory as this was the first time in European Drag racing history that the sports big guns had battled it out over this distance.
NB. The standard Drag Racing distance is 1320 feet. This safety measure was introduced following an accident in America, whilst safety measures are reviewed; the sports pinnacle drivers are competing over the shorter distance in the USA, particularly at tracks with a shorter run-off area. Mantorp Park in Sweden has a shorter shut down area than other European facilities, hence the decision in the interest of driver safety.
Another obstacle to overcome was the size of the entry in the class. For the first time in European Top Fuel history, 14 cars were entered, all battling it out for a place in the 8 car elimination ladder. This was obviously going to be a challenge for all the teams but a fantastic testament to the growth in European Drag Racing, and an awesome spectacle for the fans.
By Saturday evening, the non qualifiers were on the trailer and Andy Carter was number one qualifier with a stunning 4.0591/473.33kph (294.11 mph) Andys 5th number 1 Fia qualifier in a row! The bump spot was a very respectable 4.2791/425.57 proving that all the teams had really got a handle on the new distance and that Mantorp lived up to it's reputation as one of the quickest tracks on the circuit.
Andy's numbers were not only good enough for Q1 but also for low ET of the weekend and a new track record at this distance going into eliminations.
As the sun rose over Mantorp on Sunday morning, the crew knew that only half the job was complete and by sunset, we'd know if all our team objectives had been fulfilled. The pressure was on!
One race we would all be watching was points leader Lex Joon v Urs Erbacher. Urs took the win and the mood in the camp was positive. Micke Kagered was to be our opponent in round one but with the Lucas Oil/ Landmeco car on such good form, 4.0492 seconds later, we found ourselves preparing for a round two/semi final match-up with Joran Persaker.
That time was good enough to update the track record and low ET stats for the weekend!
Joran gave a good fight in our match-up but a 4.1390 to his 4.8151 set up a fantastic final against championship contender Urs Erbacher.
We were so close to fulfilling our brief and maximum points were there for the taking if we could get round the Swiss, man mountain! At the hit, Urs was up in smoke, lots of smoke and Andy couldn't be seen at all but as the view cleared, the scoreboard showed the win light in our lane and another good run at 4.2739.
We were delighted with this one as we knew it was there for us to take. We scored maximum points (103) with the event honours and now move on to Germany in confident mood and as FIA Top Fuel Championship leaders.

We'd like to thank all our sponsors for their support as well as our many fans and friends who back the team with such passion. It's much appreciated.

Treatment for price rises
(Monday 30th June 2008) Lucas reports that sales of its Upper Cylinder Lubricant fuel treatment have risen by 20% this month in the wake of oil, diesel and petrol price increases and so is urging garages not to miss out on sales of a product that would really benefit their customers.
"Garages should re-think their counter sales stock profiles and pump out more information about alternative fuel and oil saving strategies, such as our Upper Cylinder Lubricant.
It helps counteract some of the engine-inhibiting side effects from some low sulphur diesel fuels:
"Low sulphur fuels are much drier. UCL improves lubrication around the piston rings and cylinder walls, which is essential for high engine performance and good fuel economy."
Car owners often fail to appreciate that an improvement in engine power and performance can be achieved quickly and cheaply between services, with a one-shot fuel treatment, says Lucas.
"Shopping for cheaper fuels when pump prices are high often exposes motorists to fuels that contain fewer engine-protecting additives. Fuel treatments can eliminate this but also they can also restore power by removing tars or resins that build up on injectors over time."
Lucas Oil Products distributes a wide range of engine protecting oils and lubricants, as well as a range of treatments that improve fuel economy and enhance the performance of transmissions and power steering systems.
Lucas Oil Powerboat comes 2nd in Italian Grand Prix
(Monday 19th May 2008)
The Lucas Oil 'Outer Limits' team had a great weekend in the Powerboat P1 championship by coming 2nd in the 100 mile endurance race having led the race up until the final straightway where last years world champion took the lead.
Nigel Hook and his team were leading the pack on the sunday race they came into some difficulties on the first corner and were forced wide and losing 5 places however they still managed to fight their way to finish 3rd place giving them 2nd place out of the 2 races.
The boat ran flawlessly on Lucas Oil meaning they were the only contending team not to change their engines which effectivley puts them in the lead of the championship due to the extra points gained for their reliability.

Lucas Octane Booster comes out on top
(Monday 10th March 2008)
A recent octane booster comparison shows that when mixed in a 100:1 ratio of fuel to additive the Lucas Octane Boosted averaged a RON reading of 101.4 and a MON rating of 91.8. Giving Lucas in a concentration of 100:1 an AKI of 96.6 when mixed with 93pump fuel. With a ratio of 100:1 this make Lucas the most concentrated additive.
When used an a concentration of 50:1 103.1 RON was achieved with a MON of 93.5 giving it a AKI of 98.4.
To date Lucas octane booster is the only booster tested that had significant results with only one bottle in the tank. One bottle is enough to make 10 gallons of 96.6 octane out of 93.

More Success for Lucas Dragsters
(Tuesday 9th October 2007)
2007 has been a great season for Mike Gullqvist and his team, not only did they win the Swedish championsip but they also won the FIA European Championship in the Pro Modified class, which went down to the last event beating Andy Robinson by 8 points. Also in the championship were Godron Appleton and Danny Cockerill who finished 9th and 13th.
Lucas Oil sets another new standard
(Thursday 4th October 2007)
The Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster driven by Andy Carter has set a new FIA European Top Fuel (Elapsed Time) record for the second time in a month.
The new time of 0-315 mph in 4.70 seconds was achieved at the UK's Santa Pod track last weekend, eclipsing his previous mark by 0.03 of a second. FIA European Top Fuel cars race in the world's fastest track racing environment so the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster uses Lucas Oil engine oils, lubricants and additives (for fuel and oil) to boost its performances. The Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster's record breaking runs in the final round of the 2007 FIA Championship did not end there. Andy Carter added a Santa Pod track record of 4.64 seconds over the quarter mile track on a single run. Andy also scored enough points to accumulate the highest over all points total of any other FIA Top Fuel Championship driver. Despite finishing fourth in the final championship standings, Andy Carter says these last two performances are a strong warning about the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster's potential and his chances of regaining the FIA crown in 2008. Mixed 2007 for Malcolm Francis
(Friday 27th July 2007)
After showing some promising signs at Santa Pod's Event at Easter where Air sea logistics found some positive results qualifiyng 6th in the Super Comp class with speeds up to 170 mph and in the Super Gas class Malcolm managed to beat former champion Conrad Stanley in the 1st qualifying round with a time of 9.903 at 160 mph. Despite losing the 2nd round they felt they made signifcant steps in the vehicle performance.
However the Main event at Santa Pod in May was a washout as Sunday and Monday qualifying and eliminations cancelled due to the bad weather. When Malcolm Francis finally got onto the track his improving speed continued, qualifying 2nd in Super Gas with a 9.909 / 165mph. From there on though things went down hill as in the Super Comp class they suffered major engine damage which put an end to their weekend and their number 1 engine. Even though they lost their engine the remainder of the runs were cancelled due to the rain.
Air Sea Logistics will next compete in the UK for the FIA European Finals in September where hopefully they can build on their increasing speed and race times.
Lucas On Two Wheels
(Monday 23rd July 2007)
Lucas Oil accelerated interest in its motorcycle oils and lubricants range this weekend with the support of trackside advertising at the 2007 Bennetts British Superbikes Championship.
Mallory Park in Leicestershire was the setting for the ninth round of the UK's premier two-wheel high speed racing event. Race one was won by Shane "Shakey" Byrne from the Stobart Vent Axia team. Race two was won by HM Plant Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari, who had fallen while leading the previous race.
"Our motorcycle oils and lubricants have been reformulated for the 2007 season and these two races in gave the Lucas Oil brand a great deal of trackside and tv exposure," says Lucas Oil managing director Les Downey. "Lucas is a regular trackside brand at dragster racing events in the UK and Europe, but this was our first adventure into circuit racing in the UK."
Lucas says the short tight Mallory Park circuit was chosen as the 2007 pilot season because of the breadth of its motorsport racing coverage, which broadly mirrors the breadth of the Lucas Oil range.
"It really is the little circuit with a big view," adds Les Downey.

Lubricants Boost for Leicester Autoparts
(Wednesday 30th May 2007)
A Leicester motor factor is experiencing increased sales of oils and additives as well as dealing with a larger number of new business enquiries for parts in general, after re-branding one of its sales vans as a Lucas Oil specialist.
Leicester Autoparts (LAP) director Harry Patel took the decision to adopt the Lucas livery after learning about Lucas' commitment to motorsports and its plans to increase its trackside profile across the racing spectrum.
"It's an obvious connection when you think about it, but the spin-offs have been significant. I guess we've had such a positive response because it's now such a highly visible van. Lucas is a well known-brand. The people of Leicester now know exactly where they can get it - and so do more of the garages, too," he says.
Leicester Autoparts is a family-run business, based on the eastern side of the city, operating five distribution vans on routes to trade customers over a radius of 20 miles. It is the latest motor factor to specialise in distributing the Lucas Oil range.
See Lotus at Lucas
(Wednesday 30th May 2007)
A classic Lotus 23 Sports Racer complete with its unique Rotorvic engine will be the focus of the Lucas Oil Products stand at the Classic Motor Show on Stand 1.T19. First raced in 1962, the powerful and stylish Lotus 23 was considered by many at the time to be the racing enthusiast's dream car. The Rotorvic engine in this 1965 model was designed as a prototype for later use in Formula 1 racing, but after the plan was shelved, the engine was removed and spent many years as part of an exhibition of classic racing engines at Donington Park. For 2006, the Rotorvic engine has been re-united with the original car as part a major restoration project by H Engineering in Tunbridge Wells, which extensively uses products from the Lucas Oil range. The project is scheduled?to be completed in time for the Lotus 23 to make a return to the starting grid during?the 2007 racing season. Lucas Oil Products plans to use the interest generated by the Lotus 23 to introduce new racing oil formulations, a range of car care products, while taking the opportunity to promote its Lead Replacement, workshop accessories and fuel additive ranges.
Pro Mods for Mational title
(Friday 9th February 2007)
The MSA National Drag Racing Championship has switched its main class from Top Methanol dragsters to Pro Mods to stem decreasing entry numbers.
The Top Methanol class has been poorly supported in recent years and last year only had 4 drivers registered for the 3 round series. This year the championship will be decided by the better supported Pro Mod class. Eleven drivers registered for this class last year and the championship will now expand from the 3 to 5 rounds to include to 2 European champonship rounds at Santa Pod.
"The championship can't carry on with just 4 cars", admitted Keith Barlett, promotor of the fIA European Drag racing Championship. "There are about 38 Pro Mod teams in Europe and I would expect at least 20 at Santa Pod for the European rounds. British drivers can cut their teeth here before moving into a full European Championship."
The Britishchampionship will continue to allow Top Methanol cars to run at MSA events, and the new format will allow for increased television coverage. Steve Turner, brother of mutiple champion Rob, was due to compete in Top Methanol this year. He said: "We've supported this class since 1993 and we are dissapointed that the class will lose its prestige. Top Methanol would have grown further this season."

We are absolutely delighted to have the support of Lucas Oil, a strong supporter of motorsport around the world with a terrific track record in drag racing." Les Downey, managing director of Lucas Oil in the UK said: "If you want to demonstrate the technical quality of your motor oils and lubricants, there aren't many more demanding environments in motor sport than keeping an FIA Top Fuel Dragster lubricated. Lucas is one of the fastest growing lubricant brands in the UK and Europe. With Andy behind the wheel, the Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster will be one of the fastest moving brands on the planet in 2007." Bob Paterson, vice president of Lucas Oil also added: "Lucas Oil is a strong supporter of motor sports and this two year sponsorship move represents a significant investment in the UK motor racing industry. The team will start testing the 320mph, 7000bhp car after the show. The first FIA round takes place at Santa Pod, UK, at The Main Event 25-28 May 2007. The battle for the Euroboss Masters went to the wire, with Anthony Hansford winning the first race for the H-Engineering team. The second race saw Anthony take the lead early on, but was passed by eventual winner Karl-Heinz Becker after suffering gear trouble. Henk De Boer in the Coloni finished a distant third with clutch trouble but was able to take enough points to win the 2006 Masters class overall.
Although a disappointing end to the season for the H-Engineering team, Anthony recorded 3 race wins, 4 second places and numerous fastest laps throughout the year. On the track the H-Engineering Lucas Footwork Arrows was consistently the fastest car in the Masters class, just missing out on the championship following the accidents at Mondello and Oschersleben.
Also at Ronda, the Chinese driver, Jo Resa Merszei made his Formula 1 debut for H-Engineering in the sister Arrows. Despite a promising debut Jo was unable to take the grid for the first race after a spectacular engine failure during qualifying. The team hope to see Jo back in the Footwork Arrows for the whole of the 2007 season.

Team BIGFOOT Racing 2006 European Monster Truck Racing Champions
(Monday 4th September 2006)
TOP HONORS ONCE AGAIN GO TO NIGEL MORRIS AND BIGFOOT
Piloting BIGFOOT #17 to a win in the finals on Sunday the 22nd of August at the Hop Farm in Kent has earned driver Nigel Morris and the entire BIGFOOT #17 team their second EMTRC title.
A jubilant Nigel said "I am just so pleased, the team works real hard, and we have been so close for the last two years, it feels very good to be the first team in Europe to ever win this title twice"
Driving to Kent Nigel knew he was in with a chance of wrapping up the title, but this is monster truck racing and anything can and usually does go wrong. The team did not have the best of weeks prior to the Hop Farm event, as they spent five days waiting for parts to rebuild the engine on sister truck Monstrous. When the parts arrived on Friday morning the team set too building the engine, finally arriving on site at 3-10 am on the Saturday morning.
As one of the best European Monster Truck Racing teams LA Supertrux Ltd is also one of the busiest. Competing in all rounds of the EMTRC as well as appearing at numerous Truck fest events as well as dealer and sponsor events. "I love racing best, but any chance I get to meet the BIGFOOT fans is great for me" said Nigel Morris and winning a championship for the second time is just amazing. "whole team has worked extremely hard, paying particular attention to making the truck more reliable. Last year we were fast, but not reliable. This year we have been quick and scored points at every race"."This was a great weekend finishing a great year for LA Supertrux Ltd and Team BIGFOOT Racing as we proved that we are once again the team to beat in European Monster truck Racing"
Additives - A key element in preventative maintenance
(Monday 31st July 2006)
Preventative maintenance is a much-underestimated subject and the role that lubricants can play is often overlooked altogether, says Lucas Oil Products.
Lucas is one of Europe's fastest growing brands and an accelerating association with winning racing teams on the road, off the road and on the race track.
"when it comes to engine wear, replacing oil at the recommended intervals is not always enough," adds managing director Les Downey.
Most engine damage takes place in the first few seconds after ignition. Inside the engione block, the right lubricant protects the engine parts while the engine is running, but after the engine grinds to a halt, the oil drains down into the base of the sump.
"That's the real danger time. If the vehicle has been standing overnight or maybe longer, the lubricant residue may not be enough to provide sufficient protection to minimise friction wear once the engine is re-engaged."
That's a particular concern for vehicles brought out for special events such as historical rallies, but it's just as important for the family car and the performance car that may be used at the weekend, says Lucas.
Additives that enhance the lubricant's level of adhesion to components that the lubricants are designed to protect can play a key role in preventative maintenance.
"We introduced the heavy duty oil stabilizer to counter this problem, but it actually achieves much more from a preventative maintenance point of view, It seals worn cylinders, reduces oil consumtion and can prevent smoking and knock in older engines," says Les Downey.
There is also every reason to use it in new engines- and transmissions too - in older to protect and extend their operational lives, he adds
