Can I mix my oil/Lucas at a 25/75 mixture? I have a big block that has worn cam bearings. My oil pressure drops to almost nothing at a warm idle. Is it possible to have 100% Lucas and run it?
Ron,
Thanks for looking to Lucas for solutions. The maximum we recommend is 60% and I think I'd start with a 50%/50% mixture to start with and then if need be go the extra 10% to 60%. The 50/50 should give you excellent results. If you're not seeing improvement at this level it's quite possible that this motor has met the end of the line. Thanks again, John Mingus
John, I did it!! I used the Lucas oil stabilizer before going four wheeling. I was really skeptical at first. I went ahead and bought 2 gallons to mix with all my diffs and boxes and motor. John, I stayed in the woods all day long. My '87 K5 with a 454 bored .60 over with only a three core radiator stayed cool; whereas, the day before, it had gotten extremely hot in downtown traffic. John, the oil pressure stayed above 25psi at a warm idle all day!! Remember what I told you about my oil pressure before? Well, evidently it was just a lifter that didn't want to pump up. It pumped up right away with the Lucas. I just could not believe it!! I'm telling everyone! I was just so worried about my motor before trying Lucas.
