Ethanol fuel regardless of the type has several drawbacks. Two key ones are the loss of horsepower in high outside ambient temp weather and normal cool weather. I have used Lucas’s [Safeguard] Ethanol Conditioner about 5,000 after my purchase of my 2005 Ford Escape 4wd/3.0L with 20.000 +K Mi. The difference is very noticeable. There are several steep hills in our area that require you to accelerate up to 4,000 RPM to maintain 65mph. With Lucas I can maintain the 65mph with only 3,000 – 3,500RPM. This now saves a little on the pocketbook on gas purchase. When you use this product plus Lucas’s Deep Fuel System Cleaner every 6 months you have a winner for engine performance.
