By not using a C3/A5/B5 specification oil also known as low/mid SAPS oils, there is an increased risk of carbon (soot) building up and blocking the flow of the Diesel Particulate Filters causing a loss in performance and overheating of the engine. A warning light or message will indicate the DPF is full. Having the filter removed and cleaned can cost from £300 upwards, if the filter cannot be cleaned a replacement will cost up to £2000!
