Third Podium in Four for Lucas Oil

Ayumu Iwasa put in another excellent performance for DAMS in Round 12 of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship at Circuit Zandvoort, securing his fifth podium this season in the Lucas oil-sponsored car.

The Red Bull Junior qualified fifth on the grid for Sunday’s Feature Race, then added three points to his season’s tally by taking sixth place in Saturday’s shorter Sprint Race. It followed a Safety Car re-start.

 
In the longer Feature Race, ahead of the F1 GP, the Japanese driver got a solid start to remain fifth, before a perfect strategy and excellent pit stop saw him come out in a net fourth place. Iwasa stayed focused and kept out of trouble to finish third. It was his third Feature Race podium in the last four rounds.

“Terrific racing was rewarded with yet another podium finish. It’s consistent racing. It’s what we expect from our products and what DAMS is delivering with their help on the track,” said Dan Morgan, sales and operations director for Lucas Oil.

Iwasa now lies 6th in the Driver’s Championship. DAMS is 6th in the Team Championship.

The next race is this weekend (9-11 September), at Monza, Italy.
